Description
Although UML language and MDA (Model Driven Architecture) approach primarily are being developed for the needs of large software projects, these powerful ideas are fruitfully applicable also towards smaller projects, where having a precise model of a real-life system is essential. This case study illustrates how a complex telecommunications network can be precisely documented by means of an" executable model". Such executable model takes the form of a highly integrated spreadsheet, which is semi-automatically constructed from the OCL constrained UML description of the network structure. We also stipulate that this approach can be extended into generic MDA tool for creating complex spreadsheet applications from their OCL constrained UML models.
