Discusses briefly the the nature of rejection, that is, the kinds of incidents that evoke feelings of rejection, and also examines a few of the precursors of rejection and exclusion. The author also presents research on behaviors and psychological processes that result from rejection experiences. The underlying traits associated with negative responses to rejection as well as the duration of such responses are explored.
