Revenue Management success is its ability to make decisions and find answers to complex problems balancing capacity and price. Revenue Management is essential for industries selling perishable inventory like bed nights and airlines seats on a given day. The perishability, is that inventory cannot be stored for future sales. In this issue, we look at the recent research in Revenue Management (RM) through a series of theoretical papers and case studies which illustrate its success. Despite its potential, the application of dynamic pricing (DP) remains the exception rather than the rule in car parks across Europe.
