Description
Sensemaking or sense-making is the process by which people give meaning to their collective experiences. It has been defined as “the ongoing retrospective development of plausible images that rationalize what people are doing”(Weick et al. 2005, p. 409). In sensemaking theory, organizational members make sense of events through a process of action, selection, and interpretation (Weick and Roberts 1993). This is what Revenue Management is, a process of sense-making. For revenue managers, it is to make sense of increasingly large volumes and variety in types of data (Josephi and Melissen 2017).
