Description
The primary goal of this chapter is to propose such an integrative framework encompassing developmental, acculturation, and social-psychological approaches to the study of individual differences in immigrant youth adaptation. The chapter consists of three main sections. In the first section, we delineate the major principles and constructs pertinent to research on immigrant youth from these three perspectives. In the second section, we discuss the definition of successful adaptation in immigrant youth, as well as key individual and contextual factors and processes that promote or hinder adaptation. In the third section, we present the integrative model, which consists of three levels of analysis ranging from the individual to the societal, and discuss its implications.(PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2023 APA, all rights reserved)
