Descripción
Methanolic leaf extracts of two plants Aloe vera [Aloe barbadensis] and Lantana camara var. aculeata were screened for antifeedant properties against Eutectona machaeralis at various concentrations. Extracts of both plants were equally effective in reducing the food consumption rate. Treated leaves with L. camara extract at 2.0% and above provided 80.21 and 87.35% leaf protection, respectively. Larval mortality due to starvation was observed at 3.0% and above which can be considered as a threshold concentration for absolute activity. An effective concentration for 50% protection (EC50) was also calculated.
