Two examples of" tools for working with guidelines" are described in the paper: SYNOP and ERGO-CONCEPTOR. They are dedicated to process control field. SYNOP is an approach of knowledge-based system for automatic evaluation of information presentation. It is first globally described in this paper. ERGO-CONCEPTOR tends to demonstrate that-from the description of an application-it is possible to generate automatically human-computer interface (HCI) specifications, and to provide a designer with these HCI specifications to guide him during his design task. The first version of ERGO-CONCEPTOR is also globally described in this paper.
