Description
In this paper, a quantitative comparison between the two types of support structures for a typical offshore wind turbine has been made. The supporting structures have been broadly divided into fixed and floating categories, and a representative from each of these two options has been studied and the methodology set out in a step-by-step manner. The designs are compared in terms of the overall cost and conclusions regarding the suitability of each option based on the environmental conditions have been drawn.
