Description
An obituary for TMS member Richard (Dick) G. Hoagland, who died on Sep 29, 2022 at the age of 81, is presented. Hoagland was a TMS member since 1981 and a 2010 TMS Fellow. He worked as a research scientist at Battelle Northwest Lab from 1962 to 1969. While working at Battelle, he received his MS degree in materials science from Washington State University (WSU), and then moved to The Ohio State University where he earned his PhD in metallurgical engineering in 1973, advised by John P. Hirth.
