Description
Amniotomy, or artificial rupture of the amniotic membranes with the intention of accelerating the progress of labor, is among the most commonly performed obstetrical procedures. A clinical trial study was conducted at this universityaffiliated teaching hospital in Hamedan, Iran, to determine the effects of amniotomy on labor duration. Eighty nulliparous women with a singleton pregnancy of 38 weeks' duration or longer, cephalic presentation, normal fetal heart rate (FHR), and intact membranes were recruited for this study after they gave written consent.
