Description
The design of future US air traffic system, referred to as NextGen [1], is the subject of current research at universities and research centers around the country [2]. The developing of algorithms for convective weather avoidance contributes a lot to it since the weather-related delay of commercial operations is one of the most frequently encountered problems in the en-route airspace. It is able to reduce the risk of safety concerns. The convective weather conditions can develop rapidly and pose danger to mid-air traffic activities among the United States airspace. Once the convective weather condition is confirmed by the National Weather Service (NWS), the relevant information would be sent to the controller and the pilot to update the flight route. The updated route needs to avoid flying through the regions and not creating conflicts with other surrounding aircraft. This kind of operation will largely increase the workload of …
