Description
The new gram [Cicer arietinum] cv. Hare Chhole 1 (green-seeded) outyielded the kabuli [bold-seeded] gram cv. C104 by 30% in trials on research farms and by 18.5% in trials on farms in the Punjab and by 28.6% in All-India trials. The seed protein content is 18.6% in Hare Chhole 1 and 17.3% in C104. The new cultivar is particularly suitable for table purposes on account of its good cooking quality in terms of swelling capacity and retention of green colour on cooking.
