Research investigates cultural discourse and authorship exploring collaborative strategies for exhibition and creative dialogue. The research project explores the determining historical influences on creative practice within a European and international context. ‘Eight Days A Week’ the artists’ initiative started in 1998, co curated by Pete Clarke and Bryan Biggs, Director Bluecoat Arts Centre from Liverpool with Jürgen Kisters, Journalist and Art Critic Kölner Stadt Anzeiger and artist Georg Gartz from Köln. In 2008 Clarke lead ‘Eight Days A Week’ artist arranged reciprocal projects in Liverpool and Cologne producing a series of exhibitions and events encompassing crafts, video, painting, installation, photography, architecture, printmaking, digital media and performance. The exchange involved galleries, colleges, artists’ spaces, civic buildings and the Internet. Clarke for example negotiated a 3 month lease on the ‘Artist in Residence Space at the Bluecoat’, Liverpool to function as an activity and resource space for 'Eight Days A Week' artists. This provided a base where artists continued the unique cultural exchange programme to develop links with educational and cultural institutions as a contribution to Liverpool European Capital City of Culture 2008.
