TheAmerican HumanDevelopmentProject of the Social Science Research Council recently published a report on the state of the United States using the capabilities con—ceptual framework of Amartya Sen and the United Nations Human Development Programme (UNDP). The lead authors of the report are Sarah Bord-Sharps and Kristen Lewis, each ofwhomhaspreviously worked on human development issues at both the community and macro levels in over 40 developing nations. This group was advised by a panel ofsocial scientists and statisticians. This Human Development Report is the second produced for the United States, following the inaugural 2008-2009 report.
