Methods
We retrospectively analyzed end stage COPD patients between 2004 and 2016. Clinical COPD characteristics, chest CT scans, and RHC were used. The mPAP measurements were derived from RHC and PH was defined by showing elevated mPAP≥ 25mmHg. Diameters of the PA and ascending aorta were measured on CT and PA/A ratio was calculated. PA size and PA/A ratio were correlated with clinical COPD parameters, and on CT airway wall thickness (WT-Pi10) and emphysema score (15th percentile). Multiple linear regression with PA size and PA/A ratio and mPAP as dependent variables were performed.
Results
In total 124 patients, with mean age of 49 years (SD 9.9) years, were analyzed and 39 patients (31%) showed PH. In the total patient group PA size and PA/A ratio were correlated with mPAP (β-value 0.318, SE 0.053, p< 0.001, and β-value 0.038; SE 0.002; P< 0.001, respectively). PA …
