Applications of the Analytic Network Process (ANP) in decision making demonstrate to our considerable amazement, and by way of validation, that people as they experience life know far more about the world in which they live and more accurately than language alone allows them to express. Logic follows language in developing its analytical details. When we make decisions across the boundaries of different areas of information, we need a way to synthesize priorities in addition to using analysis and applying judgments in each area to create these priorities. It is synthesis that is needed to make good decisions. The network structures used in the context of benefits, opportunities, costs, and risks (BOCR) make it possible to identify, classify, and arrange all the factors and interests that influence the outcome of a decision.
