Description
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IS an increas. ingly popular tern. Many authors clearly place themselves in the category of those who support and wish to encourage the use of the concept. However, there is little agreement among such authors on the issues which are fundamental to the realization of sustainable development goals.-What is sustainable development? Much of the writing, and many discussions, in the North concentrate primarily on “sustainability" rather than sustainable development. These authors" main focus is how present environmental con-Straints night be overcome and the standard of living maintained. The need for development, of ensuring that all people in the world might obtain the resources they need for survival and development, is ignored or given little attention.
