SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IS an increas. ingly popular tern. Many authors clearly place themselves in the category of those who support and wish to encourage the use of the concept. However, there is little agreement among such authors on the issues which are fundamental to the realization of sustainable development goals.-What is sustainable development? Much of the writing, and many discussions, in the North concentrate primarily on “sustainability" rather than sustainable development.
