Academic engagement may be thought of in terms of investment and participation in instruction, work, and academic tasks (Reschly et al. Best practices in fostering student engagement. It is strongly associated with student achievement. Indicators of students’ academic engagement are observable and available to educators (e.g., time-on-task, homework completion, grades, credits earned).
