How do white women who have borne" Black" children in Britain bear white supremacist ideologies? An analysis of the 1990 British census reveals that" for two out of five (or 39 percent) of children with a Black Caribbean mother or father the other parent was white. The white parent was typically the mother according to an analysis of out-marriage rates for ethnic minorities."'1 Feminist scholars have argued that we must consider the practices of white women, as well as men, when theorizing about racism and white supremacy. 2 White mothers engaged in routine acts of everyday antiracism have received little attention from critical race feminist scholars. These mundane acts of everyday antiracism in which white mothers engage are not necessarily visible when they occur outside of formal and institutionalized organizational structures.
