There is evidence that making an effective literature review is one of the most important factors for research success and many issues related to this area remain unexplored. Especially in cross-disciplinary research areas such:(a) Business Development,(b) Strategic Management and (c) Technology the absence of a methodological framework that explains step by step the literature review process, remains an important barrier for researchers that requires further study and deeper investigation. The analysis indicates that several practices and techniques related to the literature review process are not similar among researchers and that some approaches are relevant for any research area and others depend on the type and characteristics of the specific areas. As a consequence, the aim of this paper is to identify and analyze key supporting steps in the literature review process in Business Development, Strategic Management and Technology. In doing so, it expends the body of knowledge in this area and adds a new dimension to existing literature review methods and techniques.
