Web service compositions are often used to realise service-based enterpriseapplications. These enterprise systems are built from many existing discreteapplications, often legacy applications exposed using Web service interfaces.Acceptance of these systems is often constrained by non-functional aspects,such as Quality of Service (QoS). A number of factors affect the QoS of anenterprise system, including availability, scalability and performance. Thereare a number of architectural configurations or distribution patterns, whichexpress how a composed system is to be deployed. These distribution patternshave a direct impact upon the QoS of the composition. However, the amount ofcode required to realise these distribution patterns is considerable.
