Description
Kaemingk's central thesis is deeply rooted in the Christian pluralism of Dutch Reformed theologian Abraham Kuyper and supplemented by the Christologies of Herman Bavinck, Klaas Schilder, and Hans Boerma. Kaemingk posits that the task of the theologian is" not to give all of the answers but to equip Christians to both see the world and live in it through the reality of Christ and His cross"(14), giving exclusive loyalty to Christ as a life-direction without turning it into a hegemonic claim against others (19-20). Whether any will carry the work to the next step-engaging Muslim theologians or encouraging a Muslim response to Kaemingk's proposal-remains to be seen-but the invitation has been opened.[Extracted from the article]
