The report provides an overview of Bulgaria‘s maritime security challenges in the current regional security environment. On one hand, the lack of an official document on maritime security strategy makes it difficult to understand the role and place of national maritime spaces in national security. The highly defragmented development of the Black Sea Region and the divergent interests of the countries make the environment difficult to predict. The processes of regionalization of conflicts have led to the transfer of traditional power politics from national to regional security. This initiated the establishment of new security models, characterized mainly by economic interconnections, resource provision and the formation of regional zones of influence that meet the current challenges.
