Dr. Diego Esparza, Assistant Professor Political Science at the University of North Texas in Denton, is a specialist on issues involving the police, public security reform, intelligence, and civil–military relations. He is currently at work on a book comparing the evolution of police in Chile, Colombia, and Mexico that investigates the correlation between organizational structures within each police system and the malfeasant practices. A graduate of California Polytechnic State University at San Lius Obispo with a BA in Political Science, he received his MA and Ph. D. from the University of California at Riverside, also in Political Science. His work has been published in Comparative Political Studies, Democracy and Security, and the Annual Review of Political and Military Sociology.
