Descripción
A mining company plans to exploit an economic mineral in the state of Morelos, Mexico. The area is surrounded by rural settlements and archeological sites with ancient vestiges. To evaluate the possible effects of mine blasting operations, we estimated vibration levels around the projected mine. The ground motion computations that support our assessment were obtained considering a 3D velocity model developed for the zone and finite element (FEM) simulations for several detonation designs. The velocity model was constructed using crosscorrelation of seismic noise recorded by an array of ten stations installed in the area.
