Description
The title compounds 5-arylazopyrimidines were prepared by coupling 2,4-diamino-6-(substituted amino)pyrimidines with diazotized arylamines. These compounds inhibited the growth of Streptococcus faecalis and acted as folic acid antagonists. The growth inhibition was compared with that of the parent compounds and some well known antibiotics. Structure-activity relationship was also discussed.
