Description
The approach to computer aided hierarchical circuit design on the base of univariate algorithms was derived by the analysing the mathematical principles behind recombination. In this paper it is considered how to introduce mutation in this approach. A number of experiments applied to circuit design are discussed. Experiments indicate that mutation and elitism increase the performance of the algorithms and decrease the dependence on the correct choice of the population size.
