Aging men, masculinities and modern medicine edited by Antje Kampf, Barbara L. Marshall and Alan Petersen was published by Routledge in 2013. This edited volume includes contributors from psychology, sociology, the health sciences and anthropology. This is because, as the authors point out,‘inquiries into the meaning of the body cannot be approached from a single perspective’(p. 3). In addition and untypically for social science research (Henrich, Heine, & Norenzayan, 2010), the research included in this volume is not Western centric, with research on men from Mexico, Nigeria and Turkey as well as migrants living in Australia. Via examinations of medicalization, masculinity and ageism, the volume explores the ageing male in contemporary society.
