Description
Our purpose is to summarize information on apparent changes in the cnemidophorine lizard community in Bentsen-Rio Grande State Park between 1984 and 1995. The data presented (1) constitute the first recorded example of ecological trends in a community consisting of two inde-pendently derived clonal complexes with common parentage and one of their progenitor species and (2) are consistent with the hypothesis that LARB (2n) has been replaced by LAR-A (2n) in large areas of Texas and Mexico (Walker, 1987a, 1987b; Paulissen et al., 1992). The park (site H-3 in Walker, 1987b) located 15 km SE of Mission, Hidalgo Co., Texas, is mostly surrounded by cultivated land except for the part bordering the river. The most apparent limiting resource for Cnemidophorus in this most-vol. 41, no. 1 64
