Description
Background: Metabolic syndrome components in children and adolescents have gained attention in low- and middle-income countries due to variability in their effects and measures across socioeconomic status (SES) determinants. Socioeconomic disparities have been studied related to health, and this fact still poses a serious challenge that raises concerns, especially in low-and middle-income countries, where the classification of the population relies on different determinants from wealthier countries. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to illustrate the effects of measures of metabolic syndrome components across SES in Latin American (LA) young adults.
