Description
Few studies have focused on simulating fruit tree growth under fertilization constraints and evaluating nitrogen utilization efficiency. This study aimed to improve the WOFOST (World Food Studies) model by embedding the nitrogen dynamics module into the original WOFOST model (WOFOST-N) to simulate the Korla Fragrant pear tree growth, nitrogen transport, nitrogen use efficiency and nitrogen stress. In addition, we used the BBCH scale to provide a more detailed description of the phenological development process of pear trees to improve phenology simulation performance. Field trials were conducted in 2021 and 2022 in two pear orchards in the Alar region of China. The results showed that the simulated total dry weight (leaves and fruits, TAGPl,f) and leaf area index (LAI) growth dynamics agreed well with the measured values in each treatment in 2021 and 2022.
