Description
A John Deere 4400 elevator system was donated to the Clemson University Agricultural Mechanization and Business (AGM) program for educational purposes for capstone students to design and construct a room scale precision agriculture yield monitor demonstration unit. A design limitation required that the unit must be capable of fitting through a standard classroom door. The unit measures 203 centimeters by 71 centimeters (80 inches by 28 inches) and contains all the systematic sensors required to produce a yield map housed within a functioning field combine. The yield monitor is mobile and capable of producing a variable yield map within a classroom or laboratory. Such a platform allows students to focus on the precision agriculture technologies and not on operating the combine in a field.
