Description
Photon-counting detectors (PCDs) have many advantages over the energy-integrating detectors. To fully exploit the advantages, however, it is important to develop a method that characterizes the PCD data by considering major spectral distortion factors: charge sharing (CS) and pulse pile-up (PP). Two major challenges were remaining model–data mismatch and pixel-to-pixel deviations from “good pixels.” In this work, we proposed a PCD model that uses global count-rate-dependent model parameters to address the global model–data mismatch problem and local parameters to handle local pixel-to-pixel deviations. The agreement of the proposed model and physical PCD data was outstanding.
