Description
The role of volume on the nucleation induction time and polymorphic outcome was investigated for 5-methyl-2-[(2-nitrophenyl) amino]-3-thiophenecarbonitrile (ROY) and sulfathiazole (SLFTZ) in a range of organic solvents. Generally, the results showed the expected trend of longer induction times for smaller volumes with consistent formation of one polymorph; however, in two cases (ROY–methanol and SLFTZ–methanol), an opposite trend was found with the induction time shortening with a smaller volume and a different polymorph nucleating.
