Effective use of SRL skills allows you to learn more efficiently and effectively in your lifelong study journey. Self-regulated learning is a self-directive process that enables effective learning through a learner’s strategic use of SRL skills. SRL skills are cognitive, behavioural, affective and/or meta-cognitive in nature. These SRL skills include setting and adjusting educational goals, monitoring goal timelines, formulating useful strategies (such as note taking, memorisation techniques and collaborating with peers)[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11].
Research has shown that SRL is strongly associated with academic performance and course completion across all educational settings [12, 13, 14], where poor SRL can lead to lower academic performance and higher course attrition.
