Access to the facilities afforded by the Internet has become a ubiquitous part of everyday life for many people across a range of age groups. Ongoing developments in technology mean that users can use technological devices with little or no technical expertise. A direct result of these developments has been a shift in who uses the Web, how online information is perceived and consequently, an emerging culture of information use. The user-friendly Web has turned the Internet into a global resource. This article explores the changing nature of information and how these changes affect how we use online information, particularly in education.
