Description
The INTERNSHIPS are a major part of the training process in any courses. In comparison between medical fields and allied health with other academic fields, INTERNSHIPS program is more important regarding others. Thus, this study was a survey on the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of INTERNSHIPS program on MEDICAL RECORD s bachelor degree training courses in Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences. Two groups of students who had passed his internship in MEDICAL RECORD s Discontinuous Bachelor training courses, were studied in the summer and autumn in 2011. Data was collected using a questionnaire which validity and reliability had been confirmed. The result of the study showed that the major strengths of INTERNSHIPS Program included: the behavior of INTERNSHIPS instructors with students, the corporation of health care centers administrators for carrying out the internship course, the precoordination between MEDICAL RECORD s educational department and hospitals, and holding orientation classes to familiarity students with the INTERNSHIPS process. In addition, the major weaknesses of INTERNSHIPS Program included: the lack of adequate transportation facilities, not assess to actual knowledge and skills of trainees, and not focus on applied content in the field of MEDICAL RECORD s regarding the future job skill requirement. Regarding to the Changed name of the MEDICAL RECORD s course to health information technology, new students' educational needs has been raised.
