Description
Purpose
Gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) is associated with graft failure after lung transplant. It is proposed that GERD results in an innate immunologic danger stimulus which triggers subsequent alloimmune responses in the lung. We predicted that surgical correction of GERD would be associated with a decrease in the activation state of T cells recovered in the lungs.
